To address women’s gender-specific treatment needs, WRA uses a holistic approach and provides state-of-the-art, intensive outpatient and residential substance abuse treatment for women. Our treatment philosophy is based on the following principles:

  • Utilize non-confrontational, advocacy-based and strength-based approaches
  • Encourage relationship and community building among women and girls
  • Provide programs and treatment services that are trauma-informed and culturally competent
  • Promote strong female leadership and positive role modeling from staff
  • Strive to meet the daily needs of women and address barriers to access in all modalities of treatment
  • Create a therapeutic milieu that is structured, supportive, caring, and involves larger systems of care as needed
  • Offer services to women, children and their families; and support women with learning appropriate parenting skills
  • Develop long term recovery plans that incorporate multiple and complex issues
  • Include and employ a variety of therapeutic approaches and evidence-based practices

VISION, MISSION & CORE VALUES

The Women’s Recovery Association exists to instill hope for a quality of life that includes becoming a successful, productive and healthy member of society. We specialize in services for women with co-occurring disorders in all programs.

Since its inception in 1970, WRA has been continuously driven by a commitment to helping women struggling with the ravages of substance abuse and the collateral damage that inevitably accompanies the abuse. This commitment is reflected in our vision, mission and core values, but – even more importantly – it is embedded in the daily operations of the agency.

OUR VISION

Restoring lives… one woman at a time

OUR MISSION

The Women’s Recovery Association exists to restore women of all ages and circumstances to a life of dignity and respect, free from the effects of substance abuse.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Women and their families have unique needs.
  • Every woman is an individual and needs different tools to achieve her goals.

OUR APPROACH

  • Alcohol and chemical dependency is a treatable disease, which can impact the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the women we serve.
  • Abstinence is the primary goal of treatment and serves as the foundation for successful long-term recovery.
  • Relapse can be a part of the recovery process.
  • The support and services of the community are an integral part of our programs.
  • We encourage women to treat themselves the way they wish others would treat them.
