Founded in 1964, the Cascadian Chorale is a Bellevue-based, mixed-voice chamber choir dedicated to the performance and promotion of fine choral music. The Chorale’s membership comprises thirty-five of the greater Seattle area’s most skilled choral singers. Since 2008 the Cascadian Chorale has been conducted by its Artistic Director, Gary D. Cannon.

The Chorale regularly performs some of the most engaging and challenging works for chamber choir, ranging from Renaissance madrigals to new premieres. Highlights of recent repertoire include motets by Bach, Brahms, Bruckner, and Poulenc; partsongs by Haydn, Boulanger, and Elgar; masses by Victoria and Charpentier; Requiems by Mozart, Brahms and Duruflé; and unaccompanied masterworks by major twentieth-century composers including Barber, Ginastera, Ligeti, and Vaughan Williams. The Chorale also regularly presents works by contemporary American composers such as Lauridsen, Whitacre, and William Hawley, whose Spring Light we premiered in 2011. Also central to the Chorale’s mission is the performance of music by local composers, such as Bern Herbolsheimer, John Muehleisen, Giselle Wyers, and Greg Bartholomew.

The Cascadian Chorale performs in venues throughout the greater Seattle area, with a focus on Bellevue and other Eastside communities. We have been heard at Benaroya Hall, Town Hall, and St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle; the Bellevue Art Museum and Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue; Bastyr University Chapel in Kirkland; St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina; and fine venues in more distant communities such as Duvall, Maple Valley, and Union. The Chorale has also performed in collaboration with local orchestras, including Bellevue Philharmonic and Sammamish Symphony Orchestra.

Members of the Cascadian Chorale are a diverse cross-section of our community. Membership spans a wide age range, from recent graduates to retirees. Rehearsals are enjoyable as well as challenging and growth-oriented. The new singer or audience member will find the Chorale to be a warm and supportive group. Our concerts are informal and engaging events, aiming to enlighten and educate. It is a primary goal of the Chorale to develop the artistic passion of both singers and audience members.

The Chorale is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
