civicorps logoIn 1983, Civicorps was founded as one of the first local conservation corps in California (formerly called East Bay Conservation Corps) to provide meaningful environmental work experiences and a GED preparation program for youth. Determined to improve educational outcomes, in 1995, we received our charter by Oakland Unified School District to become a high-school diploma program for 18-26 year olds.

WASC-Accredited Charter School

In 2012, Civicorps Academy was granted accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, becoming the only accredited high-school diploma program in the East Bay for 18-26 year olds. Written in our charter, Civicorps set a goal of achieving an 80% high-school graduation rate, placing our Academy as one of the highest performing high schools in Oakland. Since 2011, we have achieved graduation rates of 74% to 85%.
