Harmony Hill of Union

Our Story & Mission

Harmony Hill began with Gretchen Schodde’s dream to create a retreat center where people could experience renewal and deep well-being. In 1986, Harmony Hill opened its doors as a small nonprofit retreat facility focusing on wellness.

In 1994, Harmony Hill added our Cancer Program, the heart of our mission, to provide support for those affected by a cancer diagnosis including caregivers and health professionals. In 2004, our cancer related programs became free for all participants.

Our Mission:

Harmony Hill’s mission is to transform the lives of those affected by cancer and to inspire healthy living for all.
Since our founding in 1986, Harmony Hill has offered programs than enhance wellness and offer support to those dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Our Cancer Program has remained free of charge for those who attend, and we’ve continued to grow our program offerings to include yoga, workshops on sustainability, and special workshops for health professionals.

We generate revenue by renting our facilities to groups and organizations and through our Wellness Program or Northwest Center for Nurse Renewal. Revenue generated from these ventures do not cover the total costs of running Harmony Hill.

We depend on foundation, corporate and individual support to continue the growth of our program offerings to keep our Cancer Program free of charge to our attendees.
