Tahoe Forest Hospital was founded on philanthropy and through continued generous community support, the region’s only health system is able to offer a wide variety of programs and services. In 1949 Tahoe Forest Hospital District was formed by the residents of our community, and is governed by a five person publicly elected board of directors.
Tahoe Forest Hospital is a not for profit rural health care facility and designated Critical Access Hospital. It is fully accredited by the Healthcare Accreditation Facilities Program and licensed by the State of California Department of Health Services.
In 1951, the Dick Joseph family donated land to the hospital district which is the site of the current Tahoe Forest Hospital campus. The Hospital offers a number of local health services such as 24- hour emergency care, an ambulatory surgery center, home health and hospice programs, Health Clinic, a cancer center, long term care center, children’s center, a center for health and sports performance, as well as a broad variety of community health outreach programs.
Originally a single-story,10,000 square-foot structure with 11 beds, Tahoe Forest Hospital has expanded and includes 25 acute care beds and 37 long-term care beds. Our geographic area covers six rural counties, two states and approximately 3,500 square miles with primary services reaching the communities of Truckee, North Lake Tahoe, Donner Summit and the Sierra Valley in California and Incline Village in Nevada.
A vital resource of Tahoe Forest Health System is Incline Village Community Hospital located in Incline Village, Nevada. Incline Village Community Hospital (IVCH) serves the population of the North Lake Tahoe community including Kings Beach, Crystal Bay and Incline Village. IVCH is a recently remodeled 4-bed Critical Access Hospital and 24-hour Emergency Room with lab and diagnostic capability as well as physical therapy services and a sleep disorder center.
