At its core, the faith development ministry at First Parish in Milton reflects the old saying that “faith is caught, not just taught.” Our Religious Education programs are rooted in the idea that the experience of living and serving and loving in faith community is as vital to our inner growth as what we learn in the classroom. Our primary goal through this holistic approach to faith development is to nurture children, youth, and adults to grow deep faith so that they can take bold action outside our church walls. As a congregation we seek to live into this goal by offering a variety of opportunities for learning, worship, fellowship, and service.
Opportunities for Adult Faith Development are offered during the week in a variety of formats and themes. The cornerstone of our programming for adults is Common Hearth. Shaped by our monthly worship themes, current events, and the needs and passions of the congregation and community, Common Hearth programs are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays and the 1st Friday of most months.
Many of our gatherings are multigenerational, by which we mean they are welcoming and accessible to people of all ages. First Parish also offers age-specific church school classes for children and youth on Sunday mornings and adult programming on weekday evenings.
