Agency Goals
Youth Homes, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to serving the needs of underserved youth in Contra Costa County. Annually, we serve 200 children and their families through Trauma-Informed approaches to care. We provide therapy and case management support to youth impacted by trauma, struggling with complex mental health and behavior challenges, to empower them and their families to create positive and sustainable changes in their lives.
Our Mission Statement
Youth Homes provides a safe place for foster youth to heal and grow.

History
Founded in 1965 by citizens concerned that troubled youth were consigned to the criminal justice system, Youth Homes has assisted thousands of children. We began by providing group homes with in-home counseling and are now the oldest, continually operating children’s residential program in Contra Costa County. Faced with new challenges, public agencies turned to us to create new and innovative programs to serve foster children in emergency situations. Today, in addition to our residential programs, we offer community-based mental health programs.

Youth Homes is an integral part of the Contra Costa County system of care, partnering with county Children & Family Services, the Superior Court, the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, the Probation Department, County Mental Health Services, CASA (court-appointed special advocates), other non-profit service providers, and a host of community volunteers.

Youth Homes is nationally accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA) and is also a member of the Children’s Home Society of America and the Association of Children’s Residential Centers, two leading national organizations in our industry.
Who We Serve
Annually, we empower 200 youth, up to age of 26, and their families. The youth and young adults we work with have experienced trauma and many have significant mental health challenges. Our services reduce hospitalizations, reduced incidents of self-harm, aggressive behaviors, drug dependency and sexual exploitation.
