Children’s Healing Art Project  (CHAP) brings the healing power of Art to children in crisis through a mobile team of teaching artists working in a partnership with hospitals, community organizations and schools.

At CHAP, children are known for their creativity and ingenuity—not by their disease, diagnosis or disability.

CHAP’s innovative healing arts programs reach critically ill, chronically ill and disabled children (and their loved ones) with programs that strengthen encourage and inspire.

CHAP Hospital Programs are currently located at Oregon Health & Science University. For over ten years, our teaching artists have led over 50 hours of healing art experiences per week at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center, Knight Cancer Institute and the Pediatric Neurosurgery Clinic. More recently, CHAP expanded to bring healing art programs to both Shriners Hospital for Children and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center as well. CHAP’s mobile art services feature unique art supplies and projects that spark the imagination.
Whether it’s a beading project, painting, puppet-making, collage, or simply drawing with a black marker on a sketch pad, Children’s Healing Art Project allows children to find their own voices through the artistic process.
